How Cursive Text Works

Cursive styles draw from Unicode's Mathematical Script block, a set of characters designed to resemble flowing, connected handwriting — the same family used for things like ℒ (script L) in physics notation. Regular and bold script variants exist side by side, so you get an elegant, calligraphy-like look built entirely from standard text characters.

This is one of the more decorative styles on the site, and it's popular for anything going for an elegant or personal feel — a name signature at the end of a message, a wedding-adjacent social post, or a journaling-style aesthetic bio. Because the letters are visually connected-looking even though each one is a separate character, short words and names tend to read best.

Script glyphs are more ornate than regular Latin letters, so legibility drops faster than with bold or italic as you add more text — great for a name or a short phrase, harder to read comfortably as a full sentence. Preview longer text before committing to cursive for something like an entire caption.
